Museum Geek Festival: the results

In April 2014 the National Museum of Karelia (project partner) applied the Open Karelia museum information system and an audio guide module for people with vision impairment to the Museum Geek Internet festival of museum multimedia.

Over 70 applications were received in 5 nominations featuring programs developed by the museums from all over Russia. Among the participants are large state museum centers such as the State Historical Museum, the State Peterhof Museum Reserve, and The Yasnaya Polyana museum estate of Leo Tolstoy.

Renowned museum experts including Mikhail Piotrovsky, director of the State Hermitage Museum, Marina Elzesser, deputy director general on educational and publishing matters of the State Tretyakov Gallery, Natalia Tolstaya, ICOM Russia and AVICOM presidium member and others comprised the jury.  

On May 16, 2014 the jury announced the audio guide of the barrier-free environment a laureate in the nomination “Programs for people with special needs”.
